Welcome to your first step in becoming a sharp, critical thinker. Logical fallacies are essentially 'glitches' in human reasoning. Even if someone sounds very confident or uses big words, their argument might be built on a foundation of sand. A fallacy is a flaw in the logic that makes an argument invalid, even if the final conclusion happens to be true. In India, we encounter these daily—in WhatsApp forwards, coaching center advertisements, or heated TV debates. Learning to spot them is like wearing mental armor; it keeps you from being easily manipulated by emotional language or deceptive tricks. When you understand these patterns, you stop focusing on 'who' is talking and start analyzing 'what' is actually being said. To begin your journey, focus on the structure of an argument. Every argument has premises (reasons) and a conclusion. A fallacy occurs when the bridge between the reasons and the conclusion is broken. For example, if someone says 'You are too young to understand economics, so your point about inflation is wrong,' they are using a fallacy. They haven't addressed the points about inflation; they only pointed out your age. This is the first step to mental clarity: separating the person from the point.
